Albies, who plays second base for the Atlanta Braves, is known for his passion for baseball. But what many may not know is that he is also an avid fisherman and has a deep appreciation for marine life. Albies’ love for fish began at a young age when he would spend his summers fishing with his grandfather in his hometown of Willemstad, Curacao. He would catch and release all kinds of fish, mesmerized by their colorful scales and unique behaviors. This childhood hobby eventually turned into a passion, and now Albies has a collection of aquariums in his home, showcasing a variety of fish species from around the world.
“I’ve always found fish to be fascinating creatures,” Albies shared. “Each species has its own personality and characteristics, and it’s just amazing to watch them interact with each other in the tank.”

He emphasized the importance of understanding the needs of each fish species before adding them to the tank and creating a suitable environment for them to thrive. “Setting up an aquarium is not just about putting fish in a tank; it’s a responsibility,” Albies explained. “You have to make sure the water quality is right, the temperature is suitable, and the fish are healthy. It’s a learning experience, and I believe it can teach the students valuable lessons about taking care of living creatures.”
