Having taken delivery of its second expedition ship, Seabourn Pursuit, from Genoa’s T. Mariotti shipyard on July 31, Seabourn is strategically relying on the expedition sector to drive its own business growth as well as contribute to the overall expansion of the cruise industry. Natalya Leahy, President of Seabourn, emphasized the pivotal role of the expedition product in cultivating growth across the entire cruise market. During a press conference following the transfer of Seabourn Pursuit to the ultra-luxury line, Leahy articulated that expedition cruising is a significant avenue for attracting individuals who might not have previously considered embarking on a cruise. The allure of once-in-a-lifetime experiences that expedition cruising offers holds substantial appeal for travelers.
Leahy shared that in the past 12 months, roughly 50 percent of Seabourn’s adventure-seeking guests were existing loyal patrons, while the remaining 50 percent were newcomers to the brand. The core objective is to provide guests with extraordinary and exceptional experiences. Both Seabourn Pursuit and Seabourn Venture have been meticulously designed to fulfill this objective. The expedition ships are crafted to transport passengers to remote and seldom-visited locations, enabling them to immerse themselves in these destinations through innovative and imaginative approaches. As Seabourn Pursuit, set to begin service from Malta on August 12, joins Seabourn Venture, the opportunities for exploring these unique locales are expanding exponentially. “Seabourn Pursuit indeed offers us the chance to venture farther and into diverse regions,” remarked Robin West, Seabourn’s Vice President of Expedition Operations.
As Seabourn Venture navigates between Antarctica, the Atlantic Ridge, and destinations like the British Isles, Svalbard, Iceland, and Greenland, Seabourn Pursuit will traverse the Pacific, embarking on an eight-month voyage encompassing a diverse array of destinations, including Australia’s Kimberley region.
