In the La Pintada district in Coclé, more than 15 families belonging to the Sustainable Agro-Community Committee of Cascajal have carried out the first partial harvest of tilapias.
This harvest, a result of a joint project between the community, the Panama Authority of Aquatic Resources (ARAP), and the company Cobre Panama, aims at both local consumption and commercialization.
In this first partial harvest, approximately 300 pounds of tilapias were obtained, with an average weight of 1.5 pounds each.
In addition to providing quality protein, the tilapia harvest represents a source of economic income for these families.
The families have a grinding machine that allows them to transform the fish into value-added products, such as nuggets and hamburgers. COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM COBRE PANAMA, MINERIA COBRE; FIRST QUANTUM
