AF-NE Activism Continues to Make a Difference in New Jersey

Since December 2023, I have had the privilege of authoring two pieces for the AF Blog on the proposed Payment in Lieu of Taxes (PILOT) programs in Parsippany Troy-Hills, New Jersey. This issue has been at the forefront of the community’s concerns, and I am proud to say that AF-NE Board Member, Justin Musella, has been leading the charge in this fight to lower taxes in his town. His dedication and activism have made a significant impact, and the results are already being seen.

For those who may not be familiar with the PILOT program, it is a tax incentive program that allows municipalities to negotiate with developers to make payments in lieu of traditional property taxes. This program has been a hot topic in Parsippany Troy-Hills, with many residents expressing their concerns about the potential impact on their taxes and the community as a whole.

Justin Musella, a proud member of the 1995 Society, has been a vocal advocate for the residents of Parsippany Troy-Hills. He has been actively involved in the community for years, and his passion for making a positive change has only grown stronger. Justin’s dedication to this cause has been unwavering, and his efforts have not gone unnoticed.

In December 2023, Justin was inducted into the 1995 Society, a prestigious group of individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities. This recognition only further solidified Justin’s commitment to making a difference in Parsippany Troy-Hills. He has continued to use his platform to raise awareness about the PILOT program and its potential impact on the community.

One of the pieces I authored for the AF Blog focused on the potential consequences of the PILOT program on the town’s schools. As a parent and a concerned citizen, I understand the importance of quality education for our children. The PILOT program has the potential to divert much-needed funds away from our schools, which could have a detrimental effect on the education system. Justin has been a strong advocate for our schools, and his efforts have been crucial in bringing attention to this issue.

In my second piece for the AF Blog, I highlighted the impact of the PILOT program on small businesses in Parsippany Troy-Hills. Small businesses are the backbone of any community, and the PILOT program could have a significant impact on their operations. Justin has been a vocal supporter of small businesses, and his advocacy has been instrumental in bringing attention to this issue. His efforts have not only helped raise awareness but have also led to meaningful discussions and potential solutions to mitigate the impact on small businesses.

Justin’s activism has not gone unnoticed by the community and local government officials. His dedication and passion have inspired others to join the fight against the PILOT program. Together, they have been able to make their voices heard and bring about positive change.

The results of Justin’s activism are already being seen. In January 2024, the Parsippany Troy-Hills Township Council voted to reject the PILOT program, citing concerns about its potential impact on the community. This decision was a significant victory for the residents of Parsippany Troy-Hills, and it would not have been possible without Justin’s tireless efforts.

The fight against the PILOT program is far from over, and Justin continues to be at the forefront of this battle. His dedication and activism have made a significant impact, and he has shown that one person can make a difference. Justin’s passion for his community and his unwavering commitment to making a positive change have been an inspiration to us all.

In conclusion, the AF-NE activism in Parsippany Troy-Hills, led by Justin Musella, has made a significant difference in the fight against the PILOT program.
