Jayson Tatum Insists Kobe Bryant Steered Him to a Life With No ‘Plan B’
It’s no secret Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum idolized Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant. Tatum admits Bryant was his favorite player while growing up, and he had the opportunity to work out with Bryant in 2018. During a recent appearance on the “Point Forward” podcast hosted by former NBA players Andre Iguodala and Evan Turner, Tatum opened up about the impact Bryant had on his life and career.
Tatum said that Bryant’s influence was so strong that it steered him away from having a “Plan B” in life. He said that Bryant’s words of wisdom and advice pushed him to focus solely on basketball and to never give up on his dreams.
“Kobe was the one who told me to never have a Plan B,” Tatum said. “He said, ‘If you have a Plan B, you’re already defeated.’ That’s something that I’ve taken with me and I’ve tried to live by.”
Tatum said that he was inspired by Bryant’s work ethic and dedication to the game. He said that Bryant’s commitment to excellence was something that he wanted to emulate in his own career.
