Minera Panamá hopes that the negotiations for the new contract will result in a situation where both parties benefit mutually, known as a “win-win” relationship

Today, the negotiating table has been officially established to discuss a new concession contract with Minera Panama.

The Minister of Commerce and Industries, Ramón Martínez, who leads the negotiating team appointed by the President of the Republic, has stated that these sessions will address various topics related to economic, fiscal, environmental, labor, and social aspects. The goal is to ensure that the mine’s operation complies with international standards of best practices.

Martínez warned that if an agreement is not reached under the proposed terms, they will explore the possibility of negotiating with another company. According to the minister, they will not proceed under the “current conditions.”

On their part, Minera Panama expressed in a statement their confidence that this process will be transparent, rigorous, and beneficial for the country. They also hope that both the best interests of the State and the rights acquired by the company will be respected, seeking the most favorable outcomes for Panama.

Manuel Aizpurúa, spokesperson and member of the company’s negotiating team, has emphasized the importance of the negotiating table being a space that values private capital investment and ensures legal security. The goal is to achieve a mutually beneficial result for all parties involved and for the country.
