It’s a 20-year-old pedophilia case that ends this Friday. She opposed Charlène, 29, to her ex-father-in-law at the Noumea court of first instance. The latter was sentenced to 10 years’ imprisonment for rape and sexual assault on a minor under the age of 15.
For the victim, it’s a relief, when the facts were committed at the beginning of 2000 in Portes de fer and Magenta. With a particularity in this file: the victim had filed a first complaint in 2003 at just 9 years old, closed without follow-up due to failure of the institution. During her indictment, the Advocate General will go so far as to present a personal apology on behalf of the institution. The institution failed at the time, she will say. The institution gave up.
In 2015, Charlène issued a second complaint with numerous elements and better legal support. The trial was held.
The second session of the assizes of the year continues. It ends on July 7.
